Principal Karen Auton is implementing a STRIVE program at DHS with the kick-off meeting being February 5. The program will be a combination of STRIVE at Freedom by Buddy Armour, Ted’s program at Hallyburton and new ideas.
Jeff Carter will be the lead from Rotary Club of Valdese. Meetings will be once a month, 11:30-12:30 (Feb 5, Mar 5, Apr 16, May 7). There will be a speaker and Rotarians sitting with the 12-16 kids for lunch.
The hope is to include 2 $500 scholarship each year for one of the students. As a club, perhaps we can add that in next year – BDI may also help this get started. For this year, we hope to do a gift card for each student ($25 each?).
