Allen VanNoppen, VanNoppen Marketing and Rotary Club of Morganton member, presented David Jones, General Manager of Continental to talk about the $70 million expansion and addition of 150 jobs over 5 years. David said the expansion was not just about adding jobs, but keeping the current site to keep jobs here.
Continental has 2 sites. Site 1 Electronic Braking System and Site 2 Electronic Suspension System. Their customers include GM, BMW, Volvo, Ford, VW, Honda, Nissan. Factories are very clean with hair nets worn and kept at 72 degrees.
Continental will have a lot of jobs that require a 2 year degree – high end manufacturing that can become your career – just as good as a four year degree. They are working with WPCC for training.
